The Great Wave. Hokusai
The Great Wave is an installation inspired by the famous Great Wave by Hokusai, which is the visual synthesis of the Japanese philosophy of life “ukiyo” because it encapsulates in an image the sense of transience and temporariness of human life in the face of the unstoppable force of nature.
But the Wave also expresses the profound disturbances of the unconscious that, like dragons of the deep waters, suddenly burst into our lives and prevent us from finding the safe harbor of spirit and reason.
Entering this room you can decide not to face the wave and live only in the present moment and experience “pleasure only in swaying, in being like a pumpkin floating on the current of a river”. Or let yourself be overwhelmed by the storm of the dragons of your unconscious that cause confusion and disorientation. To each his own wave.
